Fundamentals & Applications of TMS-EEG | Cardiff

Delegate rate: TBC

22 – 23 October 2026, 09:00

This workshop will equip participants with the knowledge and practical skills needed to design, set up, and conduct their own EEG and TMS-EEG studies. It is suitable for both researchers new to TMS-EEG methods and those with prior experience seeking to consolidate and extend their expertise in non-invasive brain stimulation and brain recording techniques.

All attendees will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience with the devices, methods, and workflows introduced throughout the workshop, supported by live demonstrations and guided practical sessions.

Over the course of the workshop, participants will develop practical and theoretical understanding in the following areas:

  • Core principles of Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS), Electroencephalography (EEG), and TMS navigation

  • TMS, EEG, and navigation system setup

  • Experimental design considerations, common challenges, and practical solutions

  • Hands-on TMS-EEG experimentation and data acquisition

  • Data review, processing, and quality control

  • Data export and integration (live streaming to MATLAB and offline workflows using TruScan Explorer and BESA Research)

  • Data import, processing, and analysis techniques

  • Introduction to additional non-invasive brain stimulation methods and their integration with EEG

As with all Brainbox Initiative workshops, this programme is developed in collaboration with leading neuroscientists from around the world and in conjunction with the Brainbox Initiative Scientific Committee. Workshop speakers will be announced soon.
