rTMS as a viable option for the treatment of depression - a discussion
if you joined us in our 'Introduction to rTMS Protocols' webinar where Rory walked us through different rTMS protocols and what their applications may be, then you'll have noticed the slide where he laid out the protocols used by some institutions as a treatment for those suffering from MDD.
Naturally, there are multiple arguments for & against the use of TMS in this way. It's a topic which divides the TMS community, but we'd like to hear your thoughts? Where do you stand on the use of rTMS as a treatment for depression?
There's a very skeptical paper below outlining how some authors might decide to exclude certain data points once the experiment finished, which may have had an impact on the results. There's also a bit of skepticism about why the FDA approved it in the first place here: https://www.nature.com/articles/npp200922
